Remember the days of doctoring your license in hopes that you’d pass for 21? Perhaps you got busted for a fake ID or maybe you were lucky enough to have had one that got you into the hottest club in town. At the time, didn’t being older seem like the coolest thing?

While many people like to reminisce about the days when they were underage and got into a 21+ club, the reality is there’s no such thing as going back in time.

As one of the few things that only goes up, age is a reminder of how much you’ve accomplished. It’s also a reminder of how much more time you hopefully have ahead of you. Regardless if you embrace, laugh, cry, or lie about your birthday, check out these seven signs that confirm you can no longer deny that you hit the middle-aged mark too!

1. Birth Certificates Don’t Lie

Middle age, by most guidelines, starts at 45. So, unless you have a magical way of going back in time and erasing the day you were born, you can’t escape the date on your official birth certificate.

2. Unless You Dye Your Hair, You Can No Longer Hide the Gray

Once you have a patch of gray in your hair and look like a skunk; you’ve hit middle age. But, rather than reacting to your new hair color with dread, how about dismantling the assumption that gray hair is a bad thing? Perhaps this change can serve as an opportunity to reinvent yourself as well.

3. The Weight You Work so Hard to Drop Comes Back Twice as Fast

Of course, a healthier weight means a healthier you. For some, getting older means it takes longer to drop extra pounds. And, in many cases, the weight creeps back faster than when you were younger.

By the time you’ve reached middle age, chances are you know what works for you and your body. So, don’t beat yourself up about trying to achieve an unattainable goal of how you’d like to look. Instead, focus on being the healthiest version of you!

4. Everyone Starts to Look Younger Than You

Remember when you used to go to the doctor’s and the physician was older than you? Or, what about the first time someone called you sir or ma’am?

While you still might feel young in the inside, there’s no escaping that others will judge you for how you look. But, don’t feel bad for no longer being the youngest when you enter a room. Now, you get to own that you’re one of the wisest!

5. Your Grooming Routine Changes

There comes a time when unwanted facial hair starts to become more noticeable. Although there’s no escaping this sign of aging, a pair of tweezers can help fix this problem.

For some, getting older also means less sleep. While there are many reasons for this, chances are the bags under your eyes will be harder to ignore. If you feel the need, there are so many products on the market that can help you look and feel fresh as you start your day! You can also try going to bed earlier too.

6. You Need to Be Near a Bathroom When You Laugh or Cough

Another sign of hitting middle age is frequently going to the bathroom. And, if you laugh or cough a little too hard, make sure there’s a loo nearby too. However, unless you’re ready to fast-forward to your senior years (and buy preventative products), this is one part of being middle-age that you might just need to deal with.

7. You Realize That Tomorrow is Not Promised

Getting older means you’ve likely had challenging life experiences such as serious illnesses, deaths in your family, heartbreak, and other drama.

Unfortunately, there’s no way of knowing what life is going to throw your way. However, once you’ve hit the middle-aged mark, you now have a better sense of how to deal with cards you’ve been dealt with.

Regardless of how you feel about reaching middle age, remember that birthdays matter! They’re a celebration of how much you’ve done, overcome, learned, and experienced! So, if you’re dreading turning a certain age, look at the number as an awesome reminder of how much you’ve lived and how much more living you still have ahead of you!
